Prefers bright light but is adaptable to indirect light conditions. Calathea like moderately moist soil but can rot when too much moisture is present. If soil is dry an inch below the top of the pot and the leaves are beginning to curl, it is time to water.
A general houseplant fertilizer every four weeks during the spring and summer. No fertilizer is necessary during the winter when plant growth naturally slows.
